On the 13th, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released its latest economic outlook report titled “Resilience Under Strain, Urgent Choices.” The report examines the pressures and urgent choices confronting the global economy, with particular emphasis on how U.S. Treasury yields are rising due to policy uncertainty and trust issues rather than inflation.
As highlighted in the report, the global growth trend is gradually weakening. Accordingly, the U.S. Treasury Department has recently raised Treasury yields, moving toward higher risk premiums for investors. This is separate from inflation pressure but arises as a result of rising policy uncertainty and financial market trust.
