The SME Venture Business Promotion Foundation announced on June 11 that it will provide full support for total disability insurance to employees using the shared risk insurance scheme jointly established with companies and core talent. The program covers up to 30,000 employees and the insurance premium is fully borne by the foundation, so there is no personal contribution.
Total disability insurance protects against unexpected injury or loss that may occur in daily work or at work sites, covering a medical expense of up to KR 10 million (₩1 million) and a rehabilitation fee of up to KR 10 million after medical treatment. It also provides support for the seven types of surgical expenses (up to KR 50 million), diagnostic fees for bone fracture (KR 10 million each), and diagnostic fees for burn injuries (KR 10 million each). In addition, it includes a mental health support fund of up to KR 1 million to promote mental well‑being among modern workers.
Policyholders can apply for the total disability insurance at the same time while using the "Inside-Information" platform through the internal website. New subscribers can join the plan immediately at the first enrollment stage, allowing employees to receive support quickly without additional procedures. Existing subscribers may apply online until the end of the enrollment period.
The SME Venture Business Promotion Foundation’s leadership emphasized that “through various risk‑sharing schemes we will ease the financial gap between large and small‑medium enterprises, strengthen employee retention, and enhance corporate sustainability.” In line with this, the foundation plans to provide additional benefits such as platform‑based welfare services, education and vacation support, and other incentives to contribute to overall improvement of working conditions.
