Shinsegae Department Store officially opened its first overseas store, “Shinsegae Pantoristore,” on the 8th of this month at the large shopping mall “Cocok Megamall Baattusaijim” in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The company plans to enter the Laotian market by collaborating with local partner Corau Group’s subsidiary Grand View Property.

Laos receives about five million foreign tourists annually and has a strong demand for K‑fashion and K‑beauty products, making it an attractive business entry point in Southeast Asia. Shinsegae set its store size at roughly 1,322 m² (400 pyeong) and, considering local consumer trends and conditions, assembled a broad product range that includes high‑end fashion items such as Kirsi, Brunbress, and Kurbnaf; casual brands like Citibriz and Boldy; and golf brands including Cleebland Golf and Adidas Golf. In the beauty segment, it offers a variety of brands such as Jo Seon Mye, Nature Replick, Skin 1004, and a cosmetics section.

Following its local‑market strategy, Shinsegae stocked about 80 % of its products for the summer season in Laos, taking into account seasonal conditions. The initial reception was positive, with the first day drawing roughly ten thousand visitors to the store. In the future, Shinsegae intends to use its Laos Store No. 1 as a springboard and expand franchise operations to Southeast Asian markets such as Thailand and Vietnam.

Park Sang‑eun, New Retail Director at Shinsegae Department Store, said that “Store No. 1 in Laos is an important starting point for showcasing the ‘Shinsegae Pantoristore’ model abroad,” adding that it will continue to provide a differentiated brand experience and convenient shopping experience for local customers while expanding its Korean‑style off‑price model globally.
