Following the announcement of a stimulus package by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the central bank’s decision to lower policy rates while national debt yields have eased, concerns about tightening economic pressure across the economy have resurfaced. These measures are intended to curb price inflation and strengthen consumer confidence; however, debate over long‑term fiscal capacity and overall financial regulation has been rekindled.
In a separate development, Nvidia’s quarterly earnings surpassed analyst expectations, driving share prices higher and drawing market attention. At the same time, domestic economic data releases were scheduled soon, heightening expectations for GDP growth, industrial output, and export figures.
Nevertheless, the stock market fell sharply after the results. Major companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix reported lower‑than‑expected production volumes, amplifying investors’ supply concerns. Consequently, Korea’s stock market recorded a decline of more than 1 % that day, escalating worries about global supply fluctuations and domestic price inflation pressures.
