KB Bank announced that it will launch the new Starbucks 2 account on January 1 as a stand‑alone product. The new account is linked with the Starbucks app so that users can earn rewards more easily when making purchases. The first Starbucks 2 account, released in April, already sold 200,000 accounts within a month and gained popularity.
Starbucks 2 offers greater benefits than its predecessor. When you pay with Starbucks, you can earn up to 15 stars per month: the first payment earns 1 star, the second 2, the third 3, the fourth 4, and the fifth 5. Additionally, if your account balance and KB National Card (including Check Card) usage meet certain conditions, you will receive up to two Americano coupons per month.
The account follows the same interest‑rate structure as Starbucks 1, with a base rate of 0.1% per year. When you first join Starbucks, you also receive an additional 1.9% point bonus. The basic rate applies if your average balance exceeds KRW 3 million.
KB Bank said that through this launch it will strengthen its partnership with Starbucks and offer customers richer benefits. The new Starbucks 2 is expected to improve consumer convenience not only by allowing stars earning but also enabling a variety of product exchanges.
