Korea Investment Securities strongly recommends buying KB Financial Group's stock after re-evaluating its future growth potential. In an analysis report released on the 24th, the brokerage firm positively forecasts the group's year-on-year growth in return on equity (ROE) and has significantly raised its target price from the previous level of 190,000 won to 205,000 won. This move is interpreted not merely as a simple price adjustment, but as a reflection of the belief that the current stock price is undervalued relative to the group's intrinsic value. According to the analysis results, the calculated target price-to-book value ratio stands at 1.31x, which is interpreted as embedding an expected ROE of 11.5% and a cost of equity of 9.2%. Researchers evaluated that these figures confirm the group's financial soundness and its ability to generate sustainable profits.

KB Financial's robust growth is attributed to the simultaneous operation of a solid foundation in banking and differentiated capabilities in the securities sector. In particular, first-quarter results recorded a boom far exceeding expectations, with non-interest income of approximately 1.7 trillion won at the center of this success. This figure surpasses KB Securities' earlier estimate of 1.3 trillion won by 22%, a result also driven by the overall vibrancy of the stock market. Fee-related revenues surged by 19% year-over-year, with securities-related revenues expanding by as much as 71%, highlighting a strong growth trend in transaction-based revenues. Additionally, trust revenues grew by 35%, further validating the reliability of traditional financial services.

The banking sector is also maintaining stable revenue streams, with net interest margins improving through the expansion of core deposit bases and efforts to optimize funding costs. KB Kookmin Bank recorded a net interest margin of 1.77% in the first quarter, a 0.02 percentage point increase from the previous quarter, while the group as a whole achieved an improvement of 0.04 percentage points. This stability is not explained by interest income alone; the group also demonstrated excellent performance in non-performing loan (NPL) provisioning. The quarterly NPL ratio was recorded at 0.4%, showing a positive trend with improvements of 0.12 percentage points from the previous quarter and 0.14 percentage points from the same quarter last year. This demonstrates the group's effective exercise of risk management capabilities during a period of increasing uncertainty in the financial environment.

Additionally, the group has positively received plans to finally proceed with the total cancellation of its 14.26 million shares of treasury stock already acquired, scheduled for next month on the 15th. Researchers explained that this cancellation decision holds great significance as it early removes legal and policy uncertainties related to the disposal of treasury stock in the future. Treasury stock cancellation is part of a shareholder value return policy, which enhances corporate capital efficiency and delivers more value to shareholders. KB Financial is highly regarded as an attractive option for long-term investors, as it balances the operation of its two core business sectors—banking and securities—while simultaneously implementing shareholder-friendly policies such as treasury stock management.
