Korea Investment Securities strongly recommends buying KB Financial Group stock after re-evaluating its future growth potential. In an analysis report published on the 24th, the brokerage firm forecasted a positive trend in the group's return on equity (ROE) growth for the current year and significantly raised its target stock price from the previous level of 190,000 won to 205,000 won. This move is interpreted not merely as a simple price adjustment, but as a reflection of the assessment that the current stock price is undervalued relative to the group's intrinsic value. According to the analysis, the resulting target price-to-book ratio stands at 1.31x, which is interpreted as incorporating an expected ROE of around 11.5% and a cost of equity of 9.2%. The research team evaluated that these figures confirm the group's financial soundness and its ability to generate sustainable profits.

The strong growth of KB Financial is attributed to the simultaneous operation of a solid foundation in its banking business and differentiated capabilities in the securities sector. In particular, first-quarter results recorded an exceptional performance far exceeding expectations, centered on non-interest income reaching approximately 1.7 trillion won. This figure exceeds the previously estimated 1.3 trillion won by 22%, a result driven by the overall vitality of the stock market. Fee-related revenue surged by 19% year-over-year, with securities-related revenue expanding by as much as 71%, highlighting the growth in transaction-based revenues. Furthermore, trust income grew by 35%, proving the reliability of traditional financial services.

The banking sector is also maintaining stable profit flows, with net interest margin improving through the expansion of core deposit bases and efforts to optimize funding costs. KB Kookmin Bank recorded a net interest margin of 1.77% in the first quarter, an increase of 0.02 percentage points from the previous quarter, while the group as a whole achieved an improvement of 0.04 percentage points. This stability cannot be explained solely by interest income; the group also showed excellent performance in non-performing loan (NPL) provisioning. The quarterly NPL ratio was recorded at 0.4%, improving by 0.12 percentage points from the previous quarter and by 0.14 percentage points from the same quarter last year, showing a positive trend. This demonstrates the group's effective exercise of risk management capabilities during a period of increasing uncertainty in the financial environment.

In addition, the group's plan to finally decide to fully cancel all of its 14.26 million shares already acquired is being positively received. The researcher explained that this cancellation decision holds significant meaning as it early eliminates legal and policy uncertainties related to the future disposal of treasury shares. Share buyback cancellation is part of a shareholder value return policy, effectively enhancing corporate capital efficiency and delivering greater value to shareholders. KB Financial is highly regarded as an attractive option for long-term investors, as it operates its two core business segments—banking and securities—in balance while simultaneously implementing shareholder-friendly policies such as treasury share management.
