SSG.com unveiled a commemorative medallion at an exhibition held in Seoul, together with representatives Rhee Tae‑won and Seong Chang‑hun. The event, which took place on the 20th (Monday) at Namsan, celebrated the 40th anniversary of Joo Soo‑Mi’s debut as a global stage artist, promising to be a special item that captures his musical legacy in one glance.
The newly crafted medal was made with fine gold (Au999) and pure silver (Ag999) using meticulous stamping techniques. The gold medal weighs 15.55 g (2 pounds), of which only 400 pieces will be produced. The silver medal, weighing 31.1 g (1 pound), will be sold in a limited run of 4,000 units. Prices are ₩4,780,000 and ₩3,800,000 respectively, and purchasers can expect delivery by mid‑October.
The front side bears a portrait of Joo Soo‑Mi and typographic designs symbolising his 40th anniversary, allowing viewers to sense history at first glance. The reverse depicts the stage set from the opera “Rigoletto” (Italian Trieste Verdi) where he debuted in 1986, reproducing his stage appearance.
Through its partnership with Korea’s Jopo Co., SSG.com has consistently presented rare items such as Pay‑ker, Seve‑tin and Gwang‑bok 80th anniversary medals. A company spokesperson said, “As an official medal to commemorate Joo Soo‑Mi’s 40th global stage debut, we hope it becomes a cherished special item.” This move demonstrates SSG.com’s intent to strengthen its precious metal competitive edge while offering consumers new value.
